FORCES LAB

After reading The forces book, take a tour of the forces lab on the PBS website. How many elephants will your favorite shape hold up?

Make sure to test: Shapes, Forces, Materials and Loads. Be ready to share next class about what you have found.

What type of bridge is this?
What force does this bridge rely on in order to stand upright?

Building Bridges

In our structures unit we will learn valuable ways in which we can use shapes and angles to build strong objects. What is the best way to cross a river? You got it! Build a bridge. Test your knowledge with this PBS bridge building activity. Careful, the Mayor of the town really needs your help to add a few bridges to his town. Make sure you have had plenty of sleep before you try this. It will be HARD WORK!
